The Stranger’s Encounter with Seabreeze: A Desperate Search for Purpose

As I stood inside the cave, gazing out at the stars beyond, I couldn’t help but think about the events that had led me to this moment. It started a long time ago, on a planet that now seemed like a distant dream. I was once asked a question that had haunted me for years: “What is the purpose of a man?” I never had an answer, until that fateful night.

It was then that I met Seabreeze, a woman who would change my life forever. Her name was etched in my mind, and I felt a sense of wonder as I looked at her. We stood together, gazing out at the stars, and I knew that I had to tell her my story.

“How did I get here?” I asked her, my voice barely above a whisper. “I was on a mission, sent by my company to survey a land parcel in New Mexico. I was alone, and the vastness of the desert seemed to stretch out before me like an endless sea.”

Seabreeze’s eyes sparkled with interest, and she nodded for me to continue. “I was running away from my past,” I said, my words spilling out like a confession. “My divorce was fresh in my mind, and I needed to escape. I set up camp at the base of a cliff, and that’s when I saw it – a cave, glowing with an otherworldly light.”

I paused, lost in the memories of that night. Seabreeze’s gentle smile encouraged me to continue. “I approached the cave, feeling a sense of trepidation. As I stepped inside, I saw you – a woman with snow-white hair, reading a book by the light of a glowing blue sphere. You looked up, and our eyes met. I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body, and I knew that my life would never be the same.”

Seabreeze’s laughter echoed through the cave, a sound that was like music to my ears. “I’ve been waiting for you, Randal,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’ve been waiting for what feels like an eternity. Come, sit with me, and let me tell you a story.”

I hesitated, unsure of what lay ahead. But something about Seabreeze drew me in, and I knew that I had to trust her. I sat down beside her, and she began to speak in a voice that was like honey and silk.

“I am Seabreeze,” she said, her eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief. “And I am an ancient being, born from the very fabric of time itself. I’ve been waiting for you, Randal, because I know that you are the one who can help me fix the timeline. Will you come with me, and let me show you the secrets of my past?”

As Randal stood there, he couldn’t believe the array of personal items on the counter, meticulously arranged and neatly organized, just as he had left them in his apartment.

“How did all this get here?” he asked, his mind reeling with the implications.

“I beamed them up after you fell asleep,” Seabreeze said, her cheeks flushing as she struggled to maintain a professional demeanor.

Randal’s eyes met hers, and he was taken aback by the sight of her, her hair mussed, her skin still warm from sleep, and her eyes sparkling with a hint of embarrassment.

“Do you see something you like?” he asked, trying to sound nonchalant, but his voice betrayed a hint of curiosity.

Seabreeze’s blush deepened, and she looked away, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m not accustomed to seeing a naked man up this close.”

Randal chuckled, feeling a pang of amusement at her reaction. “I’ll be happy to listen to you, if you will give me a few moments to relieve myself and freshen up.”

Seabreeze nodded, still looking a bit flustered, and stepped back, allowing Randal to enter the bathroom in peace.

As he closed the door behind him, Randal couldn’t help but wonder what other surprises the day might hold.

Randal’s eyes fluttered open, and he found himself wrapped in the warmth of the two women he had shared a passionate night with. Seabreeze and Patience lay on either side of him, their gentle snores a soothing melody to his ears.

As he carefully extricated himself from their entwined bodies, Randal couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret at the prospect of leaving this haven behind. But duty called, and he knew he had to face the challenges ahead.

Seabreeze’s voice was husky with sleep as she spoke up, “Randal, we need to talk. We have a few things to attend to before you head out to deal with David.”

“I know,” he replied, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. “But I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet. I don’t know if I can kill him.”

Patience stirred, her eyes opening to regard Randal with a soft, loving gaze. “We’ll discuss it later,” she said. “First, let’s get you fueled up and ready to go.”

Seabreeze nodded, and together the three of them made their way to the kitchen, where a delicious meal was waiting for them. As they ate, the conversation turned to the task at hand, and Randal found himself feeling a sense of determination he hadn’t felt in a long time.

After breakfast, Seabreeze led Randal to the trauma center, a room filled with advanced medical equipment. “This is where we’ll be able to monitor your progress and help you deal with any injuries you may sustain,” she explained.

Randal’s eyes widened as he took in the sight of the autonomous surgeon, its various tools and arms whirring and whizzing as it worked. “What is this thing?” he asked, his voice full of awe.

“That’s the surgeon,” Patience replied. “It’s capable of conducting any type of surgery, completely autonomously. The tools are trans-phasic and can pass through solid matter without damaging it.”

Seabreeze held up a small jar containing a fine fleshy mesh. “This is a Mind-Web. It will allow you to communicate with us and access our computer data. Just remember, you won’t be able to access the future information.”

Randal’s eyes narrowed as he examined the Mind-Web. “Won’t it be a little obvious if I wear that in public?” he asked.

Patience started to laugh, a beautiful, throaty sound that sent shivers down Randal’s spine. “We’ll take care of that,” she said, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

As she turned to Randal, her lips parted, and he felt himself melting into her kiss. The world around him faded away, leaving only the sensation of her lips on his, and the soft voice of Seabreeze in his mind.

“Can you hear me now?” she asked, her words echoing in his mind.

Randal’s response was lost in the kiss, but Seabreeze simply laughed and replied, “Just like that. When Patience finishes trying to… ‘Lick your stomach’, we’ll show you the capabilities of the Mind-Web.”

As the kiss deepened, Randal felt a strange sensation, like a tiny buzzing in his brain. It was then that he realized the Mind-Web was working, transmitting his thoughts to Seabreeze and Patience.

“Surgery?” he thought, his mind reeling in shock.

“No, it passed the web through your skull and attached it to the inside,” Seabreeze replied, her voice calm and reassuring. “The web will now transmit your thoughts to us.”

Randal’s mind was reeling, but as he looked into Patience’s eyes, he knew that he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, as long as he had these two women by his side.

Seabreeze held up a small needle with an ampoule attached to the back of it, her voice barely above a whisper as she said, “Unfortunately, my husband, this next part must be done the old fashioned way.”

Randal felt the needle enter the skin of his upper arm, and his eyes snapped open in surprise. “What is that?” he asked, his voice firm.

“It is Resetitall,” Seabreeze replied, her eyes locked on his. “It was invented about four hundred years from now. It will cure the body of all defects and return it to a pristine genetic state. Any diseases or deformations will be corrected. The drug will also stay in your system and make you impervious to infections and diseases.”

Patience’s gentle voice interrupted Seabreeze’s explanation, and Randal was allowed a brief moment to catch his breath. “What can this ‘Mind Web’ do?” he asked, his curiosity piqued.

“Like I said, it will allow you to communicate with Patience and me,” Seabreeze said. “It also allows access to the computer system, because I am that computer system. Think about your icon screen.”

Randal’s mind conjured up images of an icon screen, and little icons seemed to float in the air in front of his eyes. “If you want to know what any one of the icons do, just think about help for that icon,” Seabreeze instructed.

Randal focused on an icon that resembled a movie reel and thought about help. A soft phrase played in his mind, describing the icon. “This icon accesses the entertainment system of the computer files,” the phrase said. “It will allow you to watch movies, play games, listen to music, or read literature.”

“I can explore the icons later,” Randal said. “All I need now is the communications.”

“Is there anything you think you will need to accomplish your mission?” Seabreeze asked.

“I don’t think any of the future weaponry is needed,” Randal replied. “Do you have any hand guns from this time period?”

“I have all the specifications,” Seabreeze said, “and can use my energy solidifiers to make them.”

“I need to get some clothes out of my stuff in the cargo hold,” Randal said. “I can’t exactly run around in my birthday suit.”

“It doesn’t bother me at all,” Patience said, her voice laced with a wicked glint in her eye.

“We will show you your stuff,” Seabreeze said, her tone slightly vexed with Patience. “Follow me.”

As they walked out into the hallway, Randal saw a small box of needles on the counter and reached over to pick one up, hiding it in the palm of his hand. The beginnings of an idea were forming.

In the cargo hold, Randal picked out a good pair of jeans and a button-down shirt. He slid the needle into his shirt pocket, trying to keep it unnoticed. “Is there any chance you have some money available for me to use down there?” he asked.

“How much do you think you will need?” Seabreeze replied.

“I should take a few thousand with me,” Randal said. “I don’t know what I’m going to run into.”

Seabreeze gave Randal an odd look, and he caught her chin between his fingers. “I promise I won’t try to escape,” he said. “I just have a very nebulous idea of a plan.”

Seabreeze nodded and walked over to a terminal near the front of the bay. A stack of money appeared, along with a snub-nosed thirty-eight caliber revolver and a box of ammo.

As Randal took the gun and money, he leaned in and kissed Seabreeze deeply. When the kiss broke, he sighed and looked into her eyes. “Seabreeze, I don’t know where we’re going,” he said. “I cannot see the future. You have shown me enough to convince me you’re not some loony, escaped from the nut-house.”

Seabreeze smiled a small smile and nodded. “I will beam you and your jeep down,” she said. “I have made a couple of modifications to it. I hope you don’t mind.”

“You modified my jeep?” Randal asked.

“Yes, it now runs on a collapsing field power supply and an electric engine,” Seabreeze said. “You won’t ever need to put gas in it again. It also has an emergency recall beacon. Just hit the button above the radio and it will auto-beam to the ship with you in it.”

Randal kissed Seabreeze again, this time with a promise to return. Then he turned and kissed Patience, and when they broke free, Patience handed him a paper-wrapped bundle. “I realized we have not been good wives,” she said. “You have not eaten since you’ve been here. I hope this makes it up to you.”

“Thank you, Patience,” Randal said, taking the bundle. He turned and climbed into his jeep, smiling and nodding to Seabreeze before a bright flash filled his vision.

When his eyes cleared, he was parked behind a store on the roadside along Interstate 10, west of Los Angeles. He wondered to himself how he was going to find the man he was looking for.

“His location is highlighted on your GPS,” Seabreeze’s voice said in his head. “Just follow the dot.”

“Thank you, baby,” Randal replied, a smile spreading across his face.

As he drove off into the predawn air, Randal thought about his plan. Could he bring himself to kill the man, even if he had not committed a crime yet?

All he had was the word of a person he had only met a day ago, and he didn’t know how much he could trust her. Yet, he was falling in love with her shy ways and the vivacious Patience. Could he love and marry two women?

There was also the fact that they were immortal, while he was not. How could he allow himself to fall in love with two women who would travel through the eons without him?

As he reached over to open the paper-wrapped bundle, he thought about his inner turmoil. Inside, he found four small breakfast sandwiches, and two of them were sausage, egg, and cheese, while the other two were bacon, egg, and cheese.

He thought to himself that all he needed was coffee, and no sooner had he thought this when the cup holder sticking out of the dash flashed brightly. A steaming cup of coffee appeared, and he thought, “Thank you, loves.”

As he ate his breakfast, Randal’s thoughts ran through his head, and he was no closer to a resolution than before.

Hours passed, and Randal’s mind was filled with thoughts of his mission. Then he found his target, standing on a street corner talking to another man in a bad part of town. Randal watched as the two men argued, and David seemed to be begging for something.

Randal’s plan solidified, and he started the jeep back up, pulling away from the curb as he approached David. “You look like you could do a job for me,” Randal said. “How would you like to make a little money?”

David looked at him, and Randal could almost hear his thoughts. He wanted the money, but he didn’t know if he could trust the man in the jeep.

“It’s a real simple job,” Randal said. “I’ll pay you a good wage and drop you off anywhere you want when it’s done.”

David’s addiction was on him bad, and people make very bad decisions when they’re in the throws of withdrawal. He climbed into the jeep, and Randal handed him the needle. “You look in pretty bad shape,” Randal said. “I bet you could use a little pick-me-up before you go to work.”

David snatched up the needle and stuck it into his vein, forcing the drug into his system. Fire burned through him as his mind seemed to explode, and then he passed out.

“Will it hurt him?” Randal asked.

“What did you do?” Seabreeze asked, her tone laced with worry.

“I gave him a shot of the Resetitall,” Randal replied.

“What good will that do?” Seabreeze asked.

“It will cure his addiction, but that will not stop him from killing the man we are trying to protect,” Seabreeze said.

“How long will he be out?” Randal asked, the medicine would make his plan work.

“Just a few minutes, maybe an hour,” Seabreeze replied.

David woke up in the jeep, his stiff muscles flexing as he tried to move. “Good! You are awake,” Randal said, smiling. “You did the job perfectly. Here is your pay.”

Randal handed David a stack of one-hundred dollar bills, and he took it, hiding it in his shirt. As he looked around, he noticed they were sitting in
